Changing Ethernet Interface name from ens to eth

  1. Change the Kernel parameters:
    sed -i -e 's/GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=.*/GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="net.ifnames=0 noquiet"/' /etc/default/grub

2. Update the GRUB
update-grub

3. Rename the interface name to eth0
vim /etc/network/interfaces

Before changes
auto ens33
iface ens33 inet static
address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1
dns-search mmalik.net

After changes:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1
dns-search mmalik.net
